Want
more traffic but are not ready to spend the cash
Search engine optimization takes only days to
learn but a lifetime to master (mostly because
algorithms and techniques change on a monthly
basis and in the future it is anticipated they
will change on a daily basis.
However, for now I can give you some basic tips
and tricks that should help you increase your
search engine ranking in no time.
Remember, 90% of SEO companies (especially large
national franchises) will charge you an arm and
a leg and won't do a 10th of what an experienced
internet marketing specialist can do for you...
That's why they try to lock you into that 6 month
contract at 5k a month... I have worked with these
companies and know several employees and the SEO
they supply is elementary to say the least. Also,
don't be fooled by their client lists... Often
times they do free work for the large corporations
and that is the only way they get to use their
name on flyers.

Here
are the basics of Search Engine Optimization, remember
to be careful attempting to optimize your site yourself...
Would you trust a brain surgeon that only had read a
few paragraphs from a website before cutting you open?
Page Title (Title Tag)
The title of the HTML page should be relatively short
(4-7 words) and describe the page content accurately.
Be sure to include keywords and buzzwords i.e. affordable

DO NOT
use the same title on every page through out the site
i.e. "Welcome to www.yourwebsite.com" - This
is the biggest mistake you can do when optimizing your
site next to using frames!
Metatags
Use the description and keywords metatags in the head
of each web page and be sure to use the words from your
title tag as well as page content. Make sure you have
unique metatags on each page.
Heading Tags
Use heading tags. Search engines place more importance
on text within heading tags, so make sure some where
on you page you have some of your keywords in header
tags. Also try and vary font size when you can.
Page Text (Body Copy)
Make sure the text of your web pages contain keywords
and common phrases which people might search for. But
be careful with how much you saturate your body copy
with keyword phrases - you want to have them occur at
least a few times per page, but don't repeat yourself
so much that the copy sounds like Klingon. The idea
is to spread keywords around without making it look
like that was your intention.
A good way to do this is to make a column with facts
about your product or service... This way you can keep
using your keywords throughout the page without repeating
in one paragraph...
